Posed portraits and candid images of Max Dupain by Jill White and other photographers from his childhood through to just before his death. Settings of portraits include Dupain working on location, in his studio with collegues and sitting for an artist's portrait. Informal shots show Dupain attending outings and exhibitions. Dupain appears either as the sole subject or in company with other people including family, friends and collegues. Images capture Dupain across the spectrum of expressions: from guarded to approachable, the serious professional to relaxed lightheartedness. The collection also contains textual material such as correspondence between Jill White and exhibitors, 'with compliments' slips, and signed photographs with messages of appreciation:
