- Scope and ContentIn this interview Patricia (Trish) Ludgate speaks about her family origins and her post WWII childhood in western Sydney, travelling to Europe after high school and diplomatic postings as personal assistant to ambassadors in Pakistan, Tanzania, Poland and Iraq. She describes meeting pianist Roger Woodward in Warsaw and their growing relationship before and after moving to London together, where they lived during the Brixton riots of 1981. Back in Australia, she began exploring the world of music, studying the piano and music theory. The second half of the interview explores, in detail, Trish’s 20-year career at Musica Viva, including her work in regional and international touring, music programs in prisons and retirement homes and cultural exchange. She discusses motherhood, her role at the Australia Council as relationship manager of music and opera and her return to Musica Viva.
