Roy Allan Smith ( -2017) was the author of "The (New) Vale Colliery, Lithgow, N.S.W.: an interpretive history of the mine and its workforce". Roy Smith was technical officer in the coal and petroleum exploration, a public servant working in Sydney CBD museums, and a mining historian and numismatist.
