    Nural Tajularus was born and raised in Singapore and is a practicing Muslim. She moved to Sydney in 1997 and came out as a lesbian later in life after ten years of living in Australia. Following the 2016 Pulse nightclub massacre she was motivated to form Sydney Queer Muslims with two friends, an organisation that builds community, provides peer support and advocacy, and creates resources reconciling faith and sexuality.
