    Bruce Pollack (1948- ) was born in Melbourne and had a Jewish upbringing. After separating from his wife, he came out as gay in 1983. From his home in Paddington he started a publicity consultancy business while raising his son.

    Since the early 1980s, Bruce has been heavily involved in promoting gay businesses and LGBTQI+ events. He has handled multiple publicity roles for many queer organisations, often on a pro-bono basis, and was a consultant publicist for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Madi Gras for 19 years. He has been active in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association and also worked as a counsellor and trainer for the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service. He has had comprehensive involvement in AIDS organisations at state, national and federated levels. In 2016 he was awarded an Order of Australia.
