    The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) was established in 1979 as the peak national body for organisations representing Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to advocate to government, business and the broader community. It is concerned with issues of social welfare and justice, health services, immigration, citizenship, racism, and youth and women's issues.
    William (Bill) Jegorow was chairperson of the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia from its formation in 1979 until 1984 when he was appointed Honorary President.
