- Scope and ContentCarol Booth is a founding member and the first convenor of the Australian Lesbian Medical Association (ALMA). She talks about changing her career from law to medicine and describes the glaring lack of medical knowledge around lesbian sex that led her to write the first Australian book about lesbian sex and sexuality. Carol talks about the difficulties of being out in the medical profession, and the role ALMA has played in putting lesbian health on the United Nations’ agenda. She describes visiting Womyn’s Land, life as a lesbian in rural New South Wales, and her efforts to build social groups and create community for regional lesbians. She discusses marrying her partner in Canada when same sex marriage was still illegal in Australia, and the impact that the marriage equality debate had on her career.
