  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The Barrier Ranges Football Association was formed on 14 April 1890 with teams from Broken Hill, South Australia and Victoria. In 1925, the association was abolished and, on 4 May 1928, it registered as the Broken Hill Football League.

John Murray Ross Ford (1871-1953) settled in Broken Hill in 1894 to captain and coach the South Broken Hill Australian football team. He was the South Club delegate for fifteen years and served as its vice-president for nine years from 1908. Ford was presented with his farewell address on 14 January 1918 prior to moving to Sydney. He died on 15 July 1953 in Strathfield, New South Wales.
