  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Deborah Kelly was born in Melbourne in 1962. She worked as a cartoonist in the 1980s, represented in The Heidelberg School Picnic exhibition at the State Library of Victoria in 1985, and began making socially engaged artwork from 1983 which has been displayed in art galleries, public spaces and print media in Australia and internationally. She is a founding member of boat-people.org, a group of Sydney-based art and media workers who collaborate on public work about issues of race, history and borders. She completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of New South Wales in 2016.

    'Coal is Over!' 2019
    2 posters inspired by the song 'War is Over! (if you want it)' by John Lennon and Yoko Ono to comment on continued coal mining in Australia when alternative energy solutions are existent and available.
