  • Scope and Content
Dr Sara Ghaly is a psychiatrist specialising in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Westmead Hospital, where the psychiatrist sees patients on medical and surgical wards and in the Emergency Department. These patients often present with combined physical illness, such as COVID-19 and a psychiatric illness.

In this interview, Dr Sara Ghaly gives a vivid portrayal of what it was like to work during COVID-19 in Westmead Hospital, a large teaching hospital. As COVID-19 spread, particularly in 2021 with the Delta variant, there were more psychiatric patients with COVID-related physical problems on medical wards needing Consultation-Liaison psychiatric care. Dr Ghaly relates patient and staff stories from this time.
