Susan Prior, writer, researcher and content producer, was born in the UK. She emigrated to Australia in 1984, and in 1996 moved to Norfolk Island with her husband and their two daughters. After leaving the island in 2000, she studied journalism, multimedia, writing, editing and publishing.

In 2018, Prior and her family returned to Norfolk Island where she became a regular swimmer in the coral reef lagoons. Since then, she has become an environmental advocate and proactive citizen scientist, raising awareness about Norfolk Island's unique coral reef. She has created a website, Norfolk Island's Reefs, voted as one of the Top 20 coral reef blogs in the world. In 2024, she commenced a PhD in Marine Science.
