    352 photographs (in one album) - chiefly 11 x 6.8 cm - gelatin silver
  • Scope and Content
    One photograph album containing 352 black & white, gelatin silver photographs. The photographs are of Hilda Reid and George Walter Jones on their travels around New South Wales, before and during their marriage, along with friends and family. The photographs were mostly taken by Hilda with her Kodak Box Brownie. Their house at 34 Lang Road, Centennial Park appears often, along with their pet dogs and cats.

    Places featured include Cooma, Mt Kosciusko, the Snowy River, The Creel at Thredbo, Oberon, Jenolan Caves, Coxs River, the Blue Mountains including Glenbrook, Springwood, Mt York, Echo Point, Katoomba, Hartley, and Megalong Valley, the Hawkesbury region, Bathurst, the Canobolas in Orange, the South Coast, Huskisson, Bundanoon, Kangaroo Valley, Terrigal, Palm Beach, Ben Buckler, Bondi Beach, Bronte, Taronga Zoo, Five Dock, Oatley, and Kew Cemetery in Melbourne. The album also documents a trip to Canberra featuring Old Parliament House, the Post Office (now the National Archives of Australia), Hotel Canberra, Hotel Kurrajong and Albert Hall.

    Also included are photographs of the 1924 wedding of Hilda's sister, Olive; scenes at St Margaret's Hospital in 1939; George Jones and another man at Hotel Rathdowney, Queensland with the signs, 'under new management' and 'Jones'; and possibly the gravestone of George Walter Jones at South Head Cemetery.
