- Scope and ContentMary recalls the importance of music in the family home, of learning an instrument and going to ABC concerts at the Sydney Town Hall. She examines her working life at Musica Viva, specifically her role as first manager of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, her tenure as Managing Director of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and her role as Managing Director of the Melbourne Recital Centre. Mary explains negotiating the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s structural and financial extraction from the ABC and the work she and her collaborators did to grow its reputation. Mary also touches on the many influential figures in her career, including Donald McDonald, Ken Tribe and Jim Sharman and discusses her preoccupations and contributions in both the music industry and the world more broadly.
